SHY SI SOLOMON. This is what we are saying about our Igorot farmers being the “shy type”. They speak with action and not words. That this farmer, Solomon Cayamso, has agreed to show his face but refused to speak, and in another video speak but refused to show his face, is not strange at all. We are lucky to have this at all, call it a culture thing. We are lucky to have this lettuce, we call it ROMAINE.
We had it translated, what Solomon said in his beautiful Kankanaey language, and this is what they said he said: “Maam sabi nia po ay sana po bilhin po ninyo ang kanyang tanim para po may maibili ng kanilang pangangailangan sa kusina at mabayaran ang binhi ng tanim nila… Mabayaran ang utang na input na nagamit nila”.
Whatever the language, the sad story of our farmers is always the same. It needs no translation, it needs our urgent intervention.
