ROMAINE LETTUCE

SUPER ROMAINE SALE! Some ROMAINE farmers came to Calle Uno yesterday to plead for their produce. Collectively they have 3.5 tons of Romaine up for harvest today and they have no buyers. The stories they tell of their difficulties is enough to make you cry. One of them, her Romaine came back to her in the boxes she sent them in, unopened. Nabulok, mas lalong nalugi sa gastos sa kahon at pag-papadala. Another one, she was able to “sell” her Romaine for a price half of what RuRi was paying, and two weeks already she has not received a single cent. All of them them they have at one time or another did not bother to harvest at all, plowed the Romaine under as part of the land preparation…in order to plant more Romaine. Can you believe it?!

REMAINS OF ROMAINE. We have got to help our LETTUCE farmers in Benguet. Eto na, nag-start na sila magtapon. Dadalhin sa market, iha-harvest, ika-kahon, ibabalik lang sa farm na hindi nabenta. Sayang ang pagod, sayang ang gastong, walang napala ang farmer. This is Romain. Their hope in RuRi is all that remains. Help.
