CALUMPIT FRUIT

WE FOUND IT, CALUMPIT! We found a CALUMPIT TREE! It’s a huge one, a very old one, and it’s not in Calumpit, Laguna. Same province though. Surely the town is named after this tree, there must have been a profusion of these grand tress in times of old. No longer. Parang Brgy. Caniogan, Pasig ito na wala nang niyog ngayun. Anyway, back to the tree. We found this tree and it is full of fruit. We are arranging for an immediate harvest and transportation. For those of you who have never tried Calumpit, this is like one of the rarest endemic Philippines fruits. Very rarely available in public markets, if at all, napakahirap hanapin ito. We found this tree purely by accident, our people were looking for Mabolo. That’s another grand tree right there, the wood is called kamagaong, if you did not know. Anyway, back to the Calumpit. The tree owners says they could get 100 kilos out of it. We asked them to make an “eating manual” and here it is. Enjoy! I am personally very excited to eat Calumpit again. The last time was when I was a kid, so this means katatapos lang ng Vietnam War. But I digress again.
