SALAD BUT TRUE. We checked the current price of ROMAINE LETTUCE in Metro Manila and we got sticker shock. Who can afford to eat Lettuce at these prices, P600 (lowest) to P1,200 (highest)? Yung “pinakamura” is P240 per kilo, pero P320 ang delivery. Ngeh. Meanwhile, back in Madaymen, the land where the sweetest strawberries grow, our farmers are asking and then asking twice again if we can help them sell their lettuce. 800 kilos daw. We’ll need cucumbers with this and we know just the place to get them and just the farmers that gets help. Back at the bagsakans in Nueva Vizcaya, numerous bags of unsold cucumbers lie abandoned by the side of the road. True images like this never fail to make us sad.
