MUROD MELON

499.00

ON THE ROAD FOR MOROD. We found an old-school melon with variegated skin and orange flesh. It’s a native melon with thin skin and is best enjoyed as Melon con Hielo. A bit of sugar, a splash of condensed milk and ice elevates it. It’s the common, refreshing drink of provincial childhood. Not so now, in fact it is quite rare, with farmers preferring to grow the imported cantaloupes. It’s called Morod, Ilocano word for “melon”. The English name I believe is Rock Melon. This is our second pickup of Morods from a single farmer in Laoag, Ilocos Norte. How was your Morod experience, members who have had the opportunity to try it first. Is what we are saying about milk and sugar true? Does it really taste like childhood?

MOROD MELON SNAP BUY. We are looking for Rural Rising members to support a second pickup of Morod Melons. It’s P450 for 5 kilos. We’ll give your riders one piece so they too can enjoy it.
